Portfolio Mike Knowlton

Mike is the Founder and President of Murmur, a next generation storytelling studio. The company develops it's own original work and also collaborates with select clients and filmmakers.

He is also the Co-Founder of StoryCode, a global community of interactive and immersive media makers. In these two roles Mike has established himself as a seasoned thought-leader and Creative Technologist in the immersive media space.

In 2001 Mike founded the digital agency, BASIK. As the Managing Director he lead the agency's growth to a diverse group of 30 designers and engineers. The agency developed a focus in the Art world and its clients included many of the premier art galleries of the world.

Throughout a 20-year career in digital media Mike has filled many roles and is a true multihypenate. He has proven experience in all phases of digital media creation from strategy to execution, design to development, and product management to sales/marketing. He has managed large, diverse teams of designers and engineers. He has pitched and closed enterprise-level multi-million dollar engagements. He has collaborated with indie filmmakers and multi-billion dollar brands. He has launched numerous successful digital products and businesses.

His work has received accolades winning recognition from The One Club, Webbys and FWA. He is regularly covered in publications such as Fast Company, Filmmaker Magazine, Killscreen, Rolling Stone and Springwise. His work has been shown at international festivals including New York Film Festival, Savannah Film Festival, SXSW, Tribeca Film Festival and more.

Mike is a life-long musician. He played in numerous indie-rock/punk bands in the 1990s and toured the country in a Ford Econoline van named "Big Silver".
